Ceramic, Oxide Washes, Douglas Fir
The Chuckanut table references the Chuckanut sandstone formations of Northern Washington. A small coffee table meant for two sitting at floor level. The Chuckanut table is the product of a research and process experiment. An image of Chuckanut sandstone was made modified using heightfield in a digital modeling program to turn the flat image into an elevated surface.
This form was then applied to a table top, and milled as a foam positive. A large plaster mold was then created and clay was pressed into the plaster mold. The clay was then fired and treated with oxide washes. The Chuckanut Table was an involved experiment in combining natural and digital processes.
